Some local health insurers haven’t been made to know the health insurance legislation being crafted in Congress, but changes in the last two weeks have made the senate bill less distasteful to them. The bill no longer would bear the public option or a government run health insurer that would compete with private insurers. With Democrats wanting the support of all 60 senators in their causes to pass a bill, senators oppose the government entering the private insurance market successfully jettisoned the public opinion from the legislation. Executives of three area health insurers passed their thoughts about the health care overhaul with The Repository earlier.
