The number of auto insurance fraud cases is rising in the state of New York which has lead to the increase in the drivers’ rates. The Daily News has revealed that that auto insurance fraud cases have gone up by almost 33 percent since the year 2006 and the drivers are paying the price for it which has caused a huge hole in their pockets as the auto insurance rates have been hiked to 6,3 percent on the average last year. Industry experts and insurance department statistics reveal that most of the auto insurance scams occur in and around the city, especially in the regions of Bronx and Brooklyn. Majority of the auto insurance fraud cases involve the staging of accidents and the help of corrupt medical clinics are sought in order to create fraudulent claims for medical treatment which was not done or was not at all needed in the first place. The rise in auto insurance fraud cases have also managed to increase the average payout per auto insurance injury claim. As a result, the average payout per auto insurance claim is now double the national average. Reform measures have to be in place in order to control the rise of auto fraud cases.
