A New Colorado Bill Could Increase Your Insurance Costs, Auto Insurance

A new bill devised by the Colorado legislation could mean higher costs for both health insurance and auto insurance. This bill called House Bill 1168, if implemented, has the ability to change the way how insurance companies collect settlements in case of an accident. This would lead to more money being taken out of your pockets. The disadvantage of this bill is that it does not allow your health insurance company to collect money from another health insurance company if an accident occurs. Instead of authorizing your insurance company to collect money for you, you will be required to hire a trial lawyer, taking the person accused, the insurance company or both to the court in order to be paid the insurance money. Carole Walker who works for Rocky Mountain Insurance Association states that this bill eliminates the right of the insurers to get reimbursement for the privileges and benefits which they have already paid on behalf of their customers. Once this bill comes into effect, you would be the one who needs to pay for the court costs, litigation and also you need to pay the trail lawyer you hired up to forty percent of the settlement which you receive if you win your case.
